TAMADABA TRAIL MARATHON (42KM)

DESCRIPTION

It is the most demanding modality, with departure and arrival in the town of Agaete.

The race will start from Puerto de las Nieves, with the first 6 kilometres heading towards Era de Berbique, climbing up the Lomo del Manco and passing through Era del Cardón (lime kiln). From Era de Berbique, the runners will then tackle the 2-kilometre technical descent to San Pedro, where the race’s first refreshment station will be located (km 8 – solid and liquid). From San Pedro, the route follows that of the Clásica race as far as the Pérez Dam, where runners will reach the second refreshment station (km 14).

The long route would branch off from the classic route just past the Los Pérez Dam, at the existing turn-off on the path leading up to the Pinar de Tamadaba, turning left onto a path towards Lugarejos and its dam.

After passing the wall of the Lugarejos dam and wandering through the streets to the church in this hamlet, the path begins, climbing through the Las Hoyas area to the Artenara–Tamadaba road, near Casa de Tirma. It is a steep climb with a high gradient and significant elevation gain. From there, cross the road and continue along the path towards the Degollada de las Lajas, where the third refreshment station will be located (km 23).

From the Degollada de las Lajas, we skirt the northern side of Pico de la Bandera towards the Zapatero cave and the Mimbre leisure area. From there, we’ll head up the track to the forest ranger’s house and Pico de la Bandera, before descending to the Degollada del Humo. Turning left, we’ll continue downhill for 1 kilometre to reach the fourth refreshment station at the Tamadaba recreation area (km 31 – food and drink).

Finally, from the refreshment station at Tamadaba, the race will follow the same route as the classic race, heading towards Era de Berbique, before turning left from there towards Horno de Cal and Agaete, where the finish line will be located in the Plaza del Puerto de las Nieves.
